The importance of interiorization for the conscious leader

Interiorization is the perception of the existence of a universe within the human being, that is, his inner life (his feelings and thoughts). Knowing his inner life, the human being can see his mistakes and thus correct them, accepting that we are not perfect beings. We were created in the image and resemblance of God, so goodness, beauty and truth are within us, we just need to accept them.

Interiorization leads the human being back to the true source of all his problems and also of his virtues, because it puts in the psychic life the cause of his disagreements and his well-being. With this perception, we see the origin of diseases in the attitudes of omission, denial and misrepresentation of the goodness, social problems arising from human behavior and civilization according to man who forms it.

The consciousness of interiorization is important to the leader because it brings the consciousness of who he really is and what he represents in the environment in which he lives, in his home, in his work, with his family, friends, colleagues, etc.

The leader who knows himself better internally can contribute positively in several aspects, for example: for the improvement of interpersonal relationships, better use of resources and more efficient management, and with this becomes independent emotionally, intellectually and spiritually, being able to deal with any type of conflict and situations and solve them with internal and external balance.

The interiorized leader is the one who has a broader view of the situation and problems, so he can make the best decisions in an assertive, fair, coherent and beneficial way, influencing and encouraging mutual respect, trust and integrity based on personal and professional ethics.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela (1918 – 2013) was an example of leader who fought with the goal of freedom, equality and fairer opportunities for all. He devoted his entire life to the rights of the people of Africa, even experiencing difficulties at his country and abroad. Today, we don´t have a leadership personality who has left a legacy as remarkable as his for the future generations.

Even after 27 years living in prison in very adverse psychological and physical conditions, he remained steadfast in his goal, putting his will aside for something much greater.

He succeeded through his exemplary attitudes of respect, humbleness and perseverance, transmitting to thousands of people around the world that freedom, equality and justice is possible for all.

With this, Nelson Mandela showed the world that it is possible to live in social and racial equality, through kindness, dialogue and mutual understanding. An example of human being for all of us.

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”

Nelson Mandela – President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999, Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, Bharat Ratna Prize in 1990, Fullbright Prize in 1993, Order of Infante D. Henrique in 1996, Order of St. John of Queen Elizabeth II, Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush and Order of Canada.

Reflection:

Being a true leader is not just reaching a hierarchical position, but fighting with love for equality, justice, respect, tolerance, loyalty, transparency and integrity. Be ethical in all situations.

At some point in your life, have you awakened the leader within you?
