We Get Closer to the Divine Being through Good Action

"Faith and Deeds What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, 'Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." (James 2:14-17)

There is a general idea that civilization belongs to evil and that only those associated with churches or religious groups are with God, and that the enormous contingent of human beings who are doing so much good in the world do not belong to the divine - an idea that persists to this day. Certainly, most people who bring progress, like the great heroes, inventors, statesmen, scientists, and researchers, have all been excluded from any list of society’s benefactors, which was elaborated by the groups interested in exclusively buying heaven for themselves.

It seems there is a fundamental mistake about who is linked to the divine being; in fact, the general idea is that belief is sufficient for a person to be saved. But actually a person must get into action if he is to return to goodness, i.e., his behavior, ideas and good feelings must be expressed. The reality is that the being follows action (esse sequitur actio), not the other way around (actio sequitur esse).

If someone believes in God but does nothing to help others, this is a sign that he has no love, and without love, he will obviously not be able to do any good. I can affirm that evil arises from impeding action.

We mustn’t forget that the Son of God stated that at the end of times, “And shall come forth they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation,“ (John 5:29). In light of this, we must begin to see that the fundamental element that links us to the divine being is action.
